The Vice President of Advancement search committee will work with the search firm Aspen Leadership Group, which specializes in searching for advancement leaders. The search committee includes faculty, staff, and student representatives who have worked closely with the advancement team and have relevant experience and expertise for this specialized position.

Search Firm Aspen Leadership Group Lead Search Consultant
Don Hasseltine, Managing Director and Senior Consultant, has led 25 successful College and Çà¹ÏÊÓƵ Vice President searches in the last three years. Don specializes in organizational development for nonprofits with expertise in philanthropy, fundraising, and leadership, and his collaborative approach has proven to be highly effective at helping ALG clients articulate strategy, execute impactful programs, develop teams, and build institutional self-confidence. He carries a portfolio of high-level executive search projects and frequently places and coaches CEOs, Presidents, CDOs, and Vice Presidents; his clients include some of the most recognized organizations in higher education, national nonprofits, foundations, and institutes. Don is in his 8th year of service at ALG.
Over his 25-year career in advancement, Don has held leadership positions at five colleges and universities. Most recently, he served as the Vice President for Development at Brown Çà¹ÏÊÓƵ, where he was instrumental in launching their historic $3 billion campaign. Before Brown, Don served as Vice President for Advancement at Carleton, Dickinson, and Colby-Sawyer. He orchestrated two successful campaigns and led strategic planning processes at each institution. Earlier in his career, he served as the Annual Giving Director at Georgetown Çà¹ÏÊÓƵ and the Çà¹ÏÊÓƵ of Virginia.
Don has served as a CASE Circle of Excellence Judge, led the CASE conference on capital campaigns, and served on the Commission of Philanthropy. He has been a regular presenter at the CASE International, CASE DI, and DII conferences, and also is the author of Lessons for the Modern Campaign, published in the CASE International Journal of Educational Advancement, and a CASE white paper on the Performance Management Maturity Model for Higher Education Advancement. Don is a trustee at New England College and received his BA from New England College, an MA from the Çà¹ÏÊÓƵ of Maryland, and a doctorate from the Çà¹ÏÊÓƵ of Virginia. He is based in Rhode Island.
