AU Memo Letterhead

Dear AU Community,

I write today with an update on the searches for American Çà¹ÏÊÓƵ’s next provost and vice president of advancement. As I shared this fall, these are both national searches, and I am pleased to share our progress for both positions.

I want to thank our provost search committee, made up of faculty, staff, and student representatives, who together with our search firm partner (Isaacson, Miller) have completed a that is being used to develop an applicant pool of outstanding candidates from across the country. Nominations from members of our community are also welcome and may be shared with for consideration.

I also want to thank the members of our community who participated in listening sessions to help inform the provost search and position profile. These kicked off with a session for faculty held by the Faculty Senate. It also included sessions with department chairs and program directors, academic staff from across the university who are part of our Council on Undergraduate Education, and with leadership of Staff Council, student leaders, deans, cabinet members, and trustees.

Over the next several weeks, the search committee will be working with Isaacson, Miller to review potential candidates and narrow the applicant pool to a group of semifinalists. Following interviews with the semifinalist pool, the search committee will recommend three to four finalists to me for on-campus interviews. During this portion of the process, confidentiality will be of utmost importance to ensure that highly qualified candidates are willing to be considered as part of our search. Our search committee chair, College of Arts and Sciences dean Linda Aldoory, will provide further updates as the search progresses. This search is on track to be completed this semester.

The national search for our next vice president of university advancement is also making progress. Our search committee, made up of members of our community with experience and expertise relevant to this specialized position, worked to finalize the and collaborate with our search firm partner () to identify an outstanding pool of candidates. This pool will be narrowed to a semifinalist group to interview this month. From this group, three or four finalists will be recommended for on-campus interviews. This search is also on track to be completed this spring.

I want to thank all the search committee members for their hard work and commitment to this community. These two positions will be crucial leaders in our university’s future, and your efforts will help to ensure that AU’s future is in good hands.

More updates will follow as these search processes move forward. Thank you for your participation and support for these vital roles.
